A Vallejo man, accused of killing a woman with aspirations of a music career, is now also linked to a second shooting on the same street. Authorities report that he evaded capture for weeks before being apprehended following a chase and a neighborhood search.

Roberto Alfonso Tamayo-Cazarez faces charges for the murder of 29-year-old Ceicilia Corsetti, who was fatally shot on May 1 near Indiana and Sutter streets, close to her mother’s residence. Despite immediate medical attention, Corsetti succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital. Described by loved ones as having a “beautiful soul,” Corsetti was an aspiring artist and musician, according to KRON.

Detectives later identified Tamayo-Cazarez as the suspect in the murder. A warrant was issued by the Solano County District Attorney’s Office on May 6, but he remained at large for nearly two weeks.

On a Tuesday morning, another shooting occurred on the 600 block of Indiana Street, the same location associated with Corsetti’s death. Police reported that a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound was transported to a hospital by a friend around 4:30 a.m. Detectives again identified Tamayo-Cazarez as the main suspect in this incident.

Later that day, officers, with assistance from a California Highway Patrol helicopter, located Tamayo-Cazarez in Vallejo. When they attempted to stop him, he fled, leading to a pursuit through the city. Officers deployed tire deflation devices near Chico Street and Beverly Drive, disabling his vehicle. Tamayo-Cazarez then fled on foot into a residential area.

Police surrounded the area, set up a perimeter, and used the department’s Emergency Services Unit to locate Tamayo-Cazarez hiding outside a home on Beverly Drive. He was arrested without incident and taken to the Solano County Jail, facing charges of murder, firearm violations, and evading officers. Authorities are still considering additional charges related to the second shooting.

“This investigation involved a dangerous subject wanted for a homicide and later identified as the lead suspect in an additional shooting that injured another victim,” Vallejo Police Chief Jason Ta said.

“The Vallejo Police Department utilized coordinated planning, containment tactics, de-escalation strategies, available technology and specialized equipment, and the combined efforts of patrol officers, detectives, specialized personnel, and the CHP air support to safely locate, isolate, and arrest this subject.”

Authorities have not disclosed a motive for either shooting. The California Post reached out to the VPD to inquire about Tamayo-Cazarez’s citizenship status, to which the department responded: “I don’t know, I don’t check for that kind of stuff.”
