CEOs Embracing AI Avatars for Earnings Calls

CEOs are now fully embracing the power of artificial intelligence (AI) by sending their avatars to address quarterly earnings calls, a trend that is gaining momentum in the business world. This shift was highlighted recently when the Klarna CEO’s AI avatar made an appearance on an investor call, prompting other industry leaders to follow suit.

One such leader is Zoom CEO Eric Yuan, who recently utilized his own AI avatar to deliver initial comments during a company earnings call. This innovative approach was made possible through Zoom Clips, the company’s asynchronous video creation tool, showcasing Yuan’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of communication and collaboration.

During the call, Yuan’s avatar expressed pride in being among the first CEOs to employ this technology, emphasizing Zoom’s dedication to innovation and user trust. He emphasized the importance of implementing strong safeguards to prevent misuse of AI-generated content, protect user identities, and ensure responsible use of avatars.

Yuan has long been an advocate for leveraging avatars in meetings, with a vision to create digital twins of users for enhanced engagement. This vision is shared by other industry leaders, with the CEO of AI-powered transcription service Otter reportedly training his own avatar to share the workload in future endeavors.

As part of their commitment to advancing virtual communication, Zoom announced that the custom avatar add-on feature will be available to all users this week, further democratizing access to this cutting-edge technology.
