AGC Television, the scripted series arm of Stuart Ford’s AGC Studios, has announced the addition of “A Wolf’s Prey” to its distribution lineup, showcasing this six-episode Lithuanian-German crime-mystery to global buyers at Mipcom.
A young woman’s savage murder in a secluded town kicks off the investigation, placing a tenacious female detective at the helm. As she delves into the case, the town’s hidden secrets emerge. What starts as a manhunt transitions into a revealing expedition into the community’s dark underbelly.
According to a statement, “The director merges thematic elements of mythology with renowned psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung’s concepts, exploring the profound desires and sins of humanity.”
Director and writer Emilis Velyvis remarked, “This marks the first venture into crafting this type of narrative and genre in a series format since David Lynch’s iconic achievement with ‘Twin Peaks.’”
Currently undergoing post-production, the bilingual English/Lithuanian series features actors Edward Holcroft (“Kingsman: The Secret Service,” “The English Game”), Ingeborga Dapkūnaitė (“Mission Impossible,” “Seven Years in Tibet,” “Hannibal Rising”), Agnė Šataitė (“Provisionally Yours”), Tommi Korpela (“Omerta 12/6,” “The Last Ones,” “Maria’s Paradise”), and Ieva Andrejevaitė (“Tetris,” “All of You,” “Pilgrims”).
The series is both written and directed by Velyvis (“Redirected,” “The Generation of Evil”), with production led by Daiva Varnaitė-Jovaišienė and Asta Liukaitytė from Kino Kultas (Lithuania), co-produced by Michael Müllner, Georg Prokop, and Josef Brandmaier from Kodachrome (Germany), and executive produced by Tero Kaukomaa of Finland’s Son of a Pitch alongside AGC’s Ford, Lourdes Diaz, and Diane Ferrandez.
Essential crew includes director of photography Feliksas Abrukauskas, production designer Ramūnas Rastauskas, costume designers Jolanta Rimkutė and Dovilė Cibulskaitė, and make-up artist Jurgita Globytė.
The project was produced and funded by Kino Kultas and Kodachrome with support from the Lithuanian Film Centre, private contributors, Lithuanian National broadcaster LRT, and Telia Play.
The deal was finalized by Kodachrome’s managing director Michael Müllner and AGC’s VP of legal and business affairs Conor McElroy.
