Kyiv:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that a Ukrainian delegation will engage in talks with Russia in Istanbul, focusing on achieving a ceasefire.

The delegation in Istanbul will be headed by Defence Minister Rustem Umerov and will include military and intelligence officials.

According to a Turkish Foreign Ministry source cited by DW News, talks between Ukrainian and Russian diplomats are set to occur in Istanbul today.

In a post on X, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to President Erdogan and the people of Turkiye for their support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. He highlighted the strength of the Ukrainian delegation, emphasizing the importance of the talks despite doubts about Russia’s commitment.

Zelenskyy mentioned that the agenda for the talks is centered on achieving a ceasefire as the top priority, although he expressed skepticism about Russia’s intentions and commitment to ending the war.
