News Corp Partners with Symbolic.ai to Revolutionize AI Journalism

For years, newsrooms have been dabbling in the world of artificial intelligence, with most efforts remaining experimental. However, Symbolic.ai, a lesser-known startup, is looking to change the game by securing a significant deal with News Corp, Rupert Murdoch’s media empire.

News Corp, home to prominent outlets like MarketWatch, the New York Post, and the WSJ, is gearing up to implement Symbolic’s AI platform within its financial news hub, Dow Jones Newswires.

Symbolic.ai, co-founded by former eBay CEO Devin Wenig and Ars Technica co-founder Jon Stokes, boasts that its AI tool can enhance the production of high-quality journalism and content. The platform has shown remarkable productivity gains of up to 90% for intricate research tasks. Its features aim to streamline editorial workflows, offering enhancements in newsletter creation, audio transcription, fact-checking, headline optimization, SEO guidance, and more.

News Corp has demonstrated a readiness to incorporate AI into its media operations. In 2024, the company inked a multi-year partnership with OpenAI, licensing its content to the AI firm. Last November, the media giant hinted at expanding its horizons by exploring potential collaborations with other AI companies.
