A shocking incident has come to light in Alabama, where a married lunch lady was fired from her job at Lauderdale County High School in Rogersville after being accused of engaging in sexual acts with a teenage student. Amy Nicole Wigginton, 41, allegedly confessed to having sex with the male student on two occasions at her family home in March.
Following her arrest on April 4, Wigginton was placed on administrative leave and later terminated from her position after a unanimous vote by the district’s Board of Education. The school district did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the matter.
Court documents revealed that Wigginton, who is married and has children, admitted to having sex with the student on March 7 and 31. The student’s age was not specified, but it was noted that he is younger than 19. In Alabama, the age of consent is 16.
The former lunch lady, who also worked in the school’s child nutrition program, was charged with two counts of a school employee engaging in a sex act with a student. She was booked at the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond, which she posted shortly after her arrest.
Wigginton is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on June 23. The disturbing incident has left the community in shock and raised concerns about the safety and well-being of students in schools. It serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining boundaries and upholding ethical standards in educational settings.
