Terrifying violence
Friends of Alan Alda are encouraging him to update his 2005 memoir and share more of his life story before he reaches his final days. According to a source, Alda is finally ready to open up about the mental illness, paranoia, and struggles with fame that have plagued him throughout his life.
Despite having two movies scheduled for release this year, including “The Longest Ride” in April and “Bridge of Spies” in October, Alda has been haunted by mental illness since childhood. Growing up, he faced terrifying violence at the hands of his beauty queen mother, Joan, who suffered from paranoid schizophrenia.
Joan’s murderous hallucinations often led her to believe that people were trying to harm her, including her own son Alan. This forced him to constantly be on guard and watch her closely in order to protect himself. At just six years old, Alda witnessed his mother’s jealousy turn into a violent rage as she attempted to stab his father, Robert, who was a singer-actor.
Now, after years of keeping these traumatic experiences buried, Alda is prepared to share his full story and how he has coped with the heartache and anger that have tormented him for so long.
With his upcoming projects keeping him in the spotlight, it seems that Alan Alda is ready to shed light on the dark moments of his past and provide a deeper understanding of the struggles he has faced throughout his life.
