Alex Cooper, a former player for the Boston University women’s soccer team, has bravely spoken out about the ongoing allegations of sexual misconduct within the program. The recent scandal involves former BU coach Casey Brown, who has been accused of inappropriate behavior by current and former players.

In a recent article by the Boston Globe, it was revealed that one former BU player received video footage from Casey Brown that included “moaning sounds” from the coach while watching the athlete compete in a game. This shocking revelation has sparked outrage and condemnation from Cooper, who played at BU from 2013 to 2015.

Cooper, who recently shared her own experiences of sexual harassment by former BU coach Nancy Feldman in her Hulu docuseries “Call Me Alex,” expressed her disgust at the new allegations against Casey Brown. She mentioned on her Instagram Story that Brown was her assistant coach at the time and witnessed Feldman’s inappropriate behavior towards her.

The scandal has deepened as at least 18 BU soccer players reported similar allegations of harassment by Casey to the university’s Equal Opportunity Office last year. As a result, Casey was placed on leave during the season and eventually resigned in December 2024 after an investigation was conducted by BU.

Despite the allegations and the resignation of Casey, Boston University maintained that there were no policy violations or evidence of sexual harassment found during their investigation. This response has drawn criticism from Cooper, who questioned the university’s commitment to protecting its student-athletes.

In her Instagram Story, Cooper called for accountability and urged Boston University to take action to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future. She expressed solidarity with other victims of sexual harassment and encouraged them to come forward and share their stories.

The recent revelations have sparked a much-needed conversation about the systemic issues of sexual misconduct in sports and beyond. Cooper’s courage in speaking out has shed light on the importance of creating a safe and respectful environment for all athletes.

As the BU women’s soccer scandal continues to unfold, it is essential for institutions like Boston University to listen to survivors, take decisive action against perpetrators, and implement measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. The voices of victims must be heard, and steps must be taken to ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes on campus.

The world we live in today is filled with rapid changes and advancements in technology, communication, and social interactions. With the rise of social media platforms and the internet, it has become easier than ever to connect with people from all around the globe. However, this constant connectivity has also brought about a new set of challenges, including the rise of cyberbullying.

Cyberbullying is a form of bullying that takes place online, typically through social media platforms, messaging apps, and other digital channels. It can take many forms, including spreading rumors, sharing embarrassing photos or videos, or sending threatening messages. The anonymity provided by the internet often emboldens cyberbullies to engage in behavior they would not do in person.

One of the main reasons cyberbullying has become such a prevalent issue is the ease with which individuals can hide behind screens and aliases. This anonymity makes it difficult for victims to identify their attackers and seek help. Additionally, the 24/7 nature of the internet means that cyberbullying can happen at any time, making it hard for victims to escape the harassment.

The effects of cyberbullying can be devastating for individuals, leading to feelings of isolation, depression, and anxiety. Victims may also experience a decline in academic performance, as they may struggle to focus on their studies due to the constant harassment they are facing online. In extreme cases, cyberbullying has even led to suicide among its victims.

To combat the rising tide of cyberbullying, it is essential for individuals, schools, and communities to come together to raise awareness and take action. Parents should educate their children about the importance of online safety and responsible behavior, while schools should implement anti-bullying programs that specifically address cyberbullying. Additionally, social media platforms and internet service providers should take a proactive stance against cyberbullying by implementing strict policies and procedures for reporting and addressing abusive behavior.

In conclusion, cyberbullying is a serious issue that requires a collective effort to combat. By raising awareness, educating individuals, and implementing strict policies, we can work towards creating a safer and more positive online environment for all. Together, we can put an end to cyberbullying and create a more inclusive and respectful digital world.
