According to officials, all 19 individuals who went missing following a catastrophic explosion at a Tennessee bomb manufacturing facility are now presumed dead.
Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis, visibly emotional, shared a somber update on Saturday morning: “They’ve searched nearly every part of the facility. We have not found any survivors.”
He mentioned that authorities are currently using DNA to identify the remains.
“This is an immense loss, truly a significant loss,” Davis shared. “Our communities have been left in a state of devastation.”
Over 300 emergency personnel have been engaged in responding to the situation at the site.
At the time of the explosion, nineteen individuals were present in the building.
“We can only assume that they are no longer alive,” Davis stated. “Though I always hold out hope, I do not wish to raise false hopes.”
He reiterated, “This is a profound loss for our communities.”
Davis informed that the cause of the explosion is still being investigated, and it might take “days, weeks, or even months” before a definitive answer is found.
