All Android Phones to get Google Gemini Summarisation Shortcut

Google has recently introduced a new feature that allows users to easily summarize content from websites on their smartphones. This new function is a welcome change from the usual minor updates that Android devices receive on a monthly basis.

To access this feature, users can activate it by holding down the side button on their phone, which is typically used for power and voice assistant controls. This feature works best when using Google Chrome as the browser on your phone, as it allows Google’s Gemini AI to capture the content accurately.

The “Summarise page” button can extract all relevant information from an article, Wikipedia entry, or Google search result. This feature is particularly useful for quickly getting to the main points of an article or for content that is lengthy and time-consuming to read.

Once the content has been summarized, users can ask further questions or have additional articles recommended within the Gemini app. This eliminates the need to manually copy URLs and paste them into an AI app for summaries.

While this feature is currently available for Samsung Galaxy phones, it is expected to roll out to all Android devices in the near future. There are also plans to make this feature available for iPhones, although a specific timeline has not been announced yet.

It’s worth noting that a similar function has been available in the Samsung Internet app for over a year, where the browser assistant can not only summarize content but also translate it for users.

Overall, this new feature from Google is a step towards making content consumption easier and more efficient on smartphones. As technology continues to advance, we can expect more innovative features to enhance the user experience on mobile devices.
