Despite grappling with numerous challenges within the country, the White House is presently directing its focus towards a bizarre incident that occurred at the United Nations headquarters. This incident saw the escalator breaking down while President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were arriving, compelling them to resort to using the stairs, as reported by RadarOnline.com.

Accusations are flying, with UN security staff allegedly being blamed for tampering with the escalator, purportedly to create an embarrassing situation for Trump.

On Tuesday, September 24, both Trump, who has reportedly been dealing with swollen ankles, and Melania, aged 55, found themselves ascending the stairs rather than using the escalator. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt expressed her displeasure, stating, “If someone at the UN intentionally stopped the escalator as the president and first lady were stepping on, they need to be fired and investigated immediately,” as she responded to a report by The Times, revealing that UN staff had allegedly joked about disabling the escalators.

Trump, aged 79, addressed the escalator malfunction during his speech, lamenting, “All I got from the United Nations was an escalator on the way up that stopped in the middle… If the first lady wasn’t in great shape, she would’ve fallen.”

The UN later speculated that the stoppage of the escalator might have been a safety measure, triggered by a videographer who was positioned backward, aiming to film Trump.

Currently, Trump seems to shy away from overly exertive activities; an insider previously disclosed that he has taken a preference for holding meetings in the Oval Office to avoid standing for extended periods of time.

The President’s visible health concerns, particularly his swollen ankles, have prompted speculation regarding his condition. Reports indicate that during an Oval Office meeting with European leaders on August 18, Trump opted to remain seated at the Resolute Desk to conceal his swollen ankles from the cameras. MSNBC commentator Lawrence O’Donnell noted that Trump appeared evasive concerning his health.

O’Donnell suggested that Trump’s casual meeting style with world leaders, including a discussion with Vladimir Putin in Alaska, showcased worrying signs of his health decline, claiming Trump’s swollen limbs did not compare favorably with those of the 72-year-old Russian leader, who showed no such symptoms.

Nonetheless, Trump demonstrated his vigor during a fiery speech at the UN, where he criticized his allies and their decisions. At one point, he falsely asserted that London is heading toward “Sharia law” under Mayor Sadiq Khan.

A spokesperson for Khan swiftly rebuffed Trump’s assertions, stating, “We are not going to dignify [Trump’s] appalling and bigoted comments with a response. London is the greatest city in the world, safer than major US cities, and we’re delighted to welcome the record number of US citizens moving here.”

Continuing his rant, Trump remarked, “Your countries are going to hell,” while addressing concerns over open borders.

After his speech, Trump took to Truth Social to comment on the mishaps he encountered: “The teleprompter was broken and the escalator came to a sudden halt as we were riding up to the podium, but both of those events probably made the speech more interesting than it would have been otherwise. It is always an honor to speak at the United Nations, even if their equipment is somewhat faulty.”
