The recent developments in the case of alleged Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson have shed light on how he was apprehended by law enforcement. Washington County Sheriff Nate Brooksby revealed in a news conference that he received a call from a former law enforcement colleague who identified Robinson as the shooter. Robinson, who had been struggling with suicidal thoughts, was convinced by his parents not to harm himself. He was aware of the police search for him and feared a SWAT raid on his home, as well as being shot by law enforcement.

The call informing Sheriff Brooksby of Robinson’s whereabouts came in at 8:02 p.m. on Thursday. The caller, a friend of the sheriff, informed him that Robinson was in Washington County and efforts were being made to convince him to surrender peacefully. Robinson’s parents played a crucial role in persuading him to turn himself in, and he requested a “peaceful, gentle” surrender, which the sheriff agreed to.

Upon his apprehension, Robinson was described as quiet and somber. Sheriff Brooksby refrained from questioning him until lead investigators arrived on the scene. Robinson’s family and his roommate and lover, Lance Twiggs, were advised to lay low for a considerable amount of time.

Twiggs, who is currently in a safe location far from St. George, has been in contact with law enforcement officials. It was clarified that there is a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy with the last name Robinson who is not related to the shooter, and the media was urged to avoid harassing the unrelated individual.

Robinson, who lived with his transgender lover Twiggs, had reportedly developed radical views and animosity towards conservatives and Christians over time. He is facing multiple charges including aggravated murder, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury.

The tragic incident took place during Kirk’s The American Comeback tour event at Utah Valley University, where Robinson climbed onto the roof of a building and fired a single shot from a rifle, fatally striking Kirk in the neck. Kirk, a prominent conservative figure known for promoting open dialogue and debate, was pronounced dead shortly after the shooting.

The details surrounding Robinson’s surrender and the events leading up to Kirk’s death continue to unfold as the investigation progresses. The community mourns the loss of Charlie Kirk and seeks justice for the senseless act of violence that took his life.
