A South Carolina teacher, Nicole Ballew Callaham, has been accused of molesting a teen student and was all smiles as she was released on bail after dropping a bombshell in court. The 33-year-old is facing three counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor over an alleged affair with a teen boy that began when he was just 14 years old.
Callaham turned herself in to sheriff’s deputies in Anderson County, near Greenville, last week. Detectives began investigating Callaham in May and claim the affair started in 2021. The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office stated that the relationship intensified as she signed the student out of school, transported him to practices, and supervised after-school activities, leading to a prolonged pattern of abuse.
At a recent court hearing, Callaham’s attorney revealed that she is eight to nine weeks pregnant. It was not disclosed who the father of the baby might be, as Callaham has a fiancĂ© who was present in the courtroom to support her. She was released on a $120,000 cash bond, with the court imposing restrictions on her from going near the victim or certain locations where he might be.
Callaham’s case has garnered significant attention, with many shocked by the allegations against the former teacher. The Daily Mail reported that Callaham’s attorney requested her release on bond due to her pregnancy. The court allowed her release but imposed strict conditions to ensure the safety of the victim.
The court proceedings have shed light on the disturbing nature of the allegations against Callaham and the impact it has had on the victim and his family. As the case continues to unfold, the community is left grappling with the implications of such a betrayal of trust and the need for justice to be served.
