Allie Eklund has revealed the early indications that her relationship with Steven McBee Jr. was not destined to last.
Reflecting on their initial dates, Eklund, 29, shared with Us Weekly on Friday, July 10, that they seemed like a perfect match on paper and in conversation. She discussed this while talking about her business, Triple E Mercantile, which offers products inspired by her family’s ranch in Texas Hill Country, home to over 100 animals.
“Once I spent more time with him in person, the reality set in, and I realized within a few months that his words and actions were not consistent,” she explained. Eklund noticed certain issues that raised her concerns and turned to her close friends for support.
She further commented, “I began questioning some behaviors and statements, as well as how I was treated in private. While there were qualities in him that I admired, I started to see negative aspects that overshadowed the good.”
Fans have been following Eklund’s relationship with McBee Jr., 33, on season 3 of the reality TV show The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys, which began airing in June. The couple separated in April following a public dispute on social media during which McBee Jr. accused Eklund of cheating. Eklund denied the accusations, and McBee Jr. later apologized, stating he would seek therapy.
In June, McBee Jr. told Us that he returned all Eklund’s belongings but had no communication with her. He mentioned that the season contained intense discussions about engagement and long-term plans, though he was unsure what would make it to air since they were watching the episodes for the first time alongside viewers.
When questioned about achieving “closure” after their breakup, Eklund admitted that for her, nothing further “needs to be said.”

Eklund remarked on the concept of closure, saying, “His actions clearly showed me how he felt about me, and that was closure enough.” She added that there had been prior instances where McBee Jr. attempted to resolve issues privately, with his family’s awareness. During filming, she broke up with him but chose not to speak publicly to protect him. They reconciled with his family’s encouragement, yet the issues persisted.
She concluded, “When I realized it was a pattern, not just circumstantial, that was the final straw. No further conversation is needed for closure. When he asked for a closure conversation, I declined because words and actions need to align. I wish him well from a distance.”
