If you’re tired of reading subtitles while streaming your favorite shows or movies that aren’t already dubbed, there may be a solution on the horizon. Amazon has announced that they will be testing the addition of AI dubbing to licensed content that is typically only available in its original language.

These new AI-generated dubs are not solely produced by artificial intelligence. Human translators are also involved in the process to ensure that the quality of the dubs meets certain standards.

Initially, these AI-generated dubs will be available in English and Spanish for 12 films and series, including titles like El Cid: La Leyenda, Mi MamĂĄ Lora, and Long Lost.

Raf Soltanovich, the Chief Technology Officer for Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, shared his thoughts on the new feature, stating: “At Prime Video, we believe in enhancing customers’ experiences with practical and useful AI innovations… We’re eager to explore a new way to make shows and films more accessible and entertaining.”

Traditionally, dubbing has been done by voice actors, as seen in popular global series like Squid Game. Amazon’s move towards AI-generated dubbing signifies a shift in the industry towards utilizing artificial intelligence, a trend that is gaining popularity but also sparking controversy.

Users can enable this feature by navigating to the Language tab under Accounts and Settings on PC, under My Stuff in the smartphone app, or under the Prime Video settings section on the TV app.
