“Now Streaming” is a weekly recap of the stories surrounding the biggest content streamers. This weekend, there are some highly-anticipated new streaming content releases to look forward to. Disney+ will be premiering the first few episodes of “Andor,” a drama series set in the “Star Wars” universe. Netflix subscribers can enjoy the fifth season of the drama series “You” and the neo-noir action thriller film “Havoc” starring Tom Hardy and Forest Whitaker. Amazon Prime Video users can check out the new comedy-drama series “Etoile,” created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, known for their work on “Gilmore Girls” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”

In terms of financial results, Netflix reported better-than-expected Q1 results with revenue and operating income rising year-over-year. The company provided strong Q2 earnings per share and revenue estimates and reiterated its FY25 revenue outlook. Several securities analysts raised their price targets on Netflix shares, noting the company’s resilience and predictability in a tough macroeconomic environment.

Comcast also reported upbeat Q1 earnings and revenue, with Peacock revenue increasing. The company’s chairman and CEO, Brian Roberts, highlighted strong financial results across various business segments, including connectivity, wireless, business services, streaming, and theme parks.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max introduced new U.S. product updates, including the Extra Member Add-On feature, offering subscribers greater flexibility in managing their accounts. The service has revamped its content to focus on adult-oriented and true-crime programming, driving subscriber growth. Paramount is in talks with the FCC regarding its merger with Skydance Media, with discussions around corporate diversity initiatives. The Justice Department is scrutinizing Disney’s deal to take a controlling stake in FuboTV, looking into potential market concentration concerns in sports streaming.
