CHICAGO — An anonymous tipster who saw a Chicago police bulletin about a recent robbery at the Addison Red Line station helped cops identify the assailant, officials say.

On October 22, a 21-year-old woman was riding a northbound train when a masked man grabbed her wrist and pulled her onto the platform at Addison, 940 West Addison, according to a police report. The man took the woman’s phone and fled from the station.

Following the incident, detectives released a surveillance image of the robber on November 2, seeking public assistance in identifying him. Their efforts bore fruit.

An anonymous caller identified the robber as Dashion Jones, 37, according to prosecutors. Jones was located by police in the 200 block of South Sacramento.

During his arrest, Jones was found with the same backpack and a Los Angeles Dodgers jersey that matched the description of the items worn by the robber in the surveillance footage.

Judge Ankur Srivastava ordered Jones to be detained, citing his previous robbery conviction and ongoing pretrial release for a battery case at the time of the Wrigleyville mugging.

CWBChicago, established in 2013 by residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown, has expanded its coverage to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side areas. The platform aims to provide original public safety reporting with comprehensive detail and context, surpassing mainstream media outlets in accuracy and depth of coverage.
