In the 12-month period from October 2023 to September 2024, the Anti-Defamation League reported over 10,000 antisemitic incidents, triple the number from the previous year. These incidents encompassed verbal or written harassment, vandalism, and physical assault, with the majority involving cases of verbal or written harassment.
Following the incident at Barstool Sansom Street, the bar issued a statement condemning the customer’s actions as “deplorable.” Mr. Portnoy revealed in an Instagram video that two customers were involved in the incident. The bar attributed the incident to “misguided” employees who disregarded the company’s training and zero-tolerance policy for discrimination and hate, leading to their termination.
