Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) spent nearly $50,000 on hotels and meals in Puerto Rico during the third quarter of this year. She also rented a venue in San Juan where she was spotted dancing at a Bad Bunny concert in August.
AOC’s campaign committee paid for stays at Hotel Palacio Provincial and Hotel El Convento, both historic properties in Puerto Rico. The total lodging expenses amounted to $15,489.77 during the period from July 1 to September 30.
In addition to lodging, over $10,000 was spent on meals and catering services during August and September. The campaign also paid for venue rentals at the Coliseo De Puerto Rico for events, including the Bad Bunny concert attended by AOC.
Responding to reports about the expenditures, AOC’s campaign manager stated that the congresswoman travels to Puerto Rico to support local causes and host events that require staff and security. The campaign also spent money on hotel stays and dining in various locations in the US, including during the “Fighting Oligarchy” tour with Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Overall, the campaign expenses included stays at boutique hotels, dining at upscale restaurants, and venue rentals for events. AOC remains committed to advocating for Puerto Ricans and supporting grassroots organizing efforts.
