This weekend, the Fighting Oligarchy tour is heading west, with a significant kickoff event in Los Angeles, featuring notable figures such as Sen. Bernie Sanders, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Neil Young, and Joan Baez.
In a recent announcement, Sen. Sanders confirmed that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will join him for all six stops on the Western leg of his Fighting Oligarchy tour, starting this weekend.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) shared today that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) will accompany him throughout the six stops of their upcoming Western tour.
The opening rally will take place at Grand Park in Los Angeles, where attendees can also enjoy performances from Neil Young, Maggie Rogers, Joan Baez, Indigo de Souza, the Dirty Projectors, Jeff Rosenstock, The Red Pears, and the Raise Gospel Choir. Special appearances will include Reps. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) and Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), alongside California Labor Federation President Lorena Gonzalez and SEIU President April Verrett.
Following Los Angeles, Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez will embark on a five-day journey across four states, making stops in Utah, Idaho, and Montana, where they will be joined by Sara Nelson, the International President of AFA-CWA. This tour strategically targets contested districts and Republican-held areas, focusing on locations where Democrats seldom campaign.
In response to a larger-than-anticipated crowd, the third California stop has been relocated from Auburn to Folsom.
New musical acts have also been added to the tour lineup, enhancing its appeal.
Previously, Sanders was already attracting large audiences for the Fighting Oligarchy tour, but attendance surged further when Ocasio-Cortez joined the initiative.
Sanders remarked, “Americans, regardless of their party affiliationâDemocrats, Republicans, or Independentsâdo not wish to see billionaires dominate our government or purchase our elections. They are opposed to the dismantling of Social Security and the Veterans Administration by Republicans. They reject exorbitant tax breaks for the nation’s wealthiest, funded by severe cuts to Medicaid and other vital programs that working families depend on. This is why I am visiting Republican-held districts across the Western U.S. When we unite and organize, we can triumph over oligarchy.â
To date, over 107,000 individuals have attended Fighting Oligarchy rallies across seven states, with more than 5 million viewers tuning into the livestreams.
A substantial turnout is anticipated in Los Angeles at 1 PM on Saturday. The battle against Trump and his oligarch allies is set to spread coast to coast, and crucially, this mobilization aims to potentially flip the House and render Trump the most ineffective of lame ducks come the 2026 midterm elections.
