A surge of new screenless ‘smart bands’ is shaping this year as pivotal for the technology. Noteworthy names entering the market include the Garmin Cirqa, Polar Loop, Luna Band, among others.
Apple appears to be joining this trend, reportedly developing its own version of these devices. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, while specifics are scarce, Apple is exploring various possibilities.
Gurman stated, “Apple is indeed taking this industry shift seriously. The company is considering new devices with no displays.” He further noted that Apple is focused on reinventing its product lineup to meet the intensifying competition.
With existing screenless fitness trackers on the market appearing quite similar and offering comparable features, often with differing subscription models, it remains to be seen how Apple will distinguish its offering.

This development is part of a broader overhaul in Apple’s wearable technology. Gurman suggests this could involve new Apple Watch models, potentially including a more affordable version than the current SE range. Additionally, Apple is contemplating circular displays akin to those found in the Google Pixel Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch.
There is also speculation regarding the introduction of models even more premium than the existing Watch Ultra and Hermes editions.
