Apple is making a significant push to enhance its Siri AI capabilities, with reports suggesting that the tech giant will be relying on Google’s Gemini model to achieve this goal. The revamped Siri is expected to debut with iOS 26.4 in early 2026, possibly in March or April.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple will be leveraging Google’s Gemini model by customizing it to run on its private servers. This collaboration with Google aims to provide Siri with more intelligent responses and improve its overall performance.

Despite Apple’s partnership with Google for Siri’s AI capabilities, the collaboration will not result in Siri being inundated with Google services or features. Instead, Google’s influence will remain behind the scenes, allowing Apple to maintain control over the user experience.

Interestingly, Apple reportedly compared Google’s Gemini model with Anthropic’s technology to determine the best option for Siri. While Anthropic’s model was deemed superior, Apple’s existing relationship with Google led to the decision to go with Gemini for financial reasons.

The delay in delivering a smarter Siri has been a setback for Apple, as the company initially promised the AI upgrade shortly after the release of iOS 18. AI features were a focal point of Apple’s marketing for the iPhone 16 in late 2024, making the delay even more noticeable.

Overall, Apple’s collaboration with Google’s Gemini model signals a significant step towards enhancing Siri’s capabilities and providing users with a more advanced AI assistant experience. The integration of Google’s technology into Siri’s framework underscores the importance of strategic partnerships in driving innovation in the tech industry.
