Apple Unveils Liquid Glass at WWDC 2025 Event

At Apple’s WWDC 2025 event, the company made a groundbreaking announcement regarding its software design with the introduction of Liquid Glass. This design overhaul hints at what we can expect from Apple’s rumored AR glasses, set to launch next year.

Users have linked Liquid Glass to the potential AR glasses due to its strong resemblance to Apple’s Vision Pro VR headset design.

Liquid Glass is aptly named to reflect the concept of each window on a device being like a transparent and slightly reflective pane of glass. While the new design gives the screen a sleek appearance, Apple is still refining the opacity effects in the developer beta version.

The Vision Pro headset, while not a commercial hit due to its high price tag of $3,500, showcased impressive UX design that made wearing a headset less disorienting. By overlaying windows onto the user’s real-world surroundings, Apple leveraged mixed reality capabilities to create a more immersive experience.

Apple’s foray into AR glasses is aimed at competing with products like Meta’s Ray-Bans and Google’s smart glasses. Known for its elegant and modern designs, Apple is expected to bring its signature style to the AR glasses market.

Reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggest that Apple’s AR glasses will feature cameras, microphones, speakers, and built-in Siri for various functionalities. With the ability to display notifications, images, and overlays, the glasses are poised to offer a seamless augmented reality experience.

Apple’s focus on transparent design elements in Liquid Glass indicates a move towards integrating notifications and information seamlessly into the user’s surroundings. This approach aims to enhance user experience and prevent intrusive interruptions while using AR glasses.

While details about Apple’s AR glasses remain scarce, it is highly likely that Liquid Glass will play a significant role in their design and functionality.
