NXTHVN Announces Open Call for Studio and Curatorial Fellows

NXTHVN is thrilled to announce the launch of its annual open call for Studio and Curatorial Fellows. Established by Titus Kaphar and Jason Price in 2018, NXTHVN was created to establish an innovative model of arts mentorship and career advancement through a tailored curriculum. Every year, NXTHVN invites up to seven visual artists and two curators to join its paid 10-month intensive fellowship program. The application deadline is March 2, 2026.

Selected fellows will receive studio or office space, a stipend, and the option for subsidized housing. Chosen from a global pool of applicants, fellows will relocate to New Haven to engage in NXTHVN’s mentorship-focused curriculum, which includes professional development workshops led by visiting artists, curators, scholars, and industry professionals. Fellows will also be paired with a high school apprentice for specialized one-on-one learning, fostering growth and excellence in the local creative community. The fellowship program culminates in an annual group exhibition at a prominent gallery venue.

By actively participating in this comprehensive program, emerging artists and curators will make significant personal and professional strides, establishing valuable connections that propel their careers forward. NXTHVN serves as a springboard for fellows to emerge as dynamic professionals poised to make meaningful contributions in the art world and beyond.

NXTHVN encourages and welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply for fellowships, without discrimination based on age, race, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, religion, marital status, or country of origin. In 2026, NXTHVN will welcome its eighth cohort of Fellows from August 2026 to May 2027.
