Archaeologists have made a remarkable discovery in the north-western Nile delta, unearthing an ancient Egyptian settlement beneath Hellenistic ruins. This newly found settlement is estimated to be around 3500 years old, shedding light on Egyptian expansion during the New Kingdom era, which spanned from 1550 to 1069 BC.

Lead researcher Sylvain Dhennin from the University of Lyon, France, describes the New Kingdom period as a time of prosperity and significant cultural development. This period saw the reign of renowned pharaohs such as Akhenaten, Tutankhamun, and Ramesses, who left a lasting impact on Egyptian history.
