Armed Robbery and Carjacking Crew Strikes Multiple Times in Chicago
Chicago police are issuing a warning about a dangerous armed robbery and carjacking crew that has been targeting victims throughout the city. The group, consisting of four or five males wearing dark-colored clothing and ski masks, has been linked to at least six incidents in various neighborhoods including South Chicago, Goose Island, West Town, Auburn Gresham, and Grand Crossing.
The incidents began on January 3rd, with four robberies taking place in quick succession. The crew targeted victims in the 1900 block of East 80th Street, the 1500 block of North Kingsbury Street, the 1000 block of North Ashland Avenue, and the 8100 block of South Elizabeth Street. On January 6th, they struck again in the 500 block of West 81st Street in Auburn Gresham. Most recently, on January 7th, a victim was robbed in the 1500 block of East 79th Street in Grand Crossing.
According to police reports, the suspects are described as Black males between the ages of 16 and 25, all wearing dark clothing and ski masks. The group has been using stolen vehicles, including a white Hyundai Elantra and a white Kia sedan, in their crimes.
Investigators are urging anyone with information about these incidents to come forward and assist in their investigation.
