Armed Robber Targeting Women on Chicago’s Northwest Side
Residents in Chicago’s Northwest Side are being urged to stay vigilant following two recent armed robberies targeting women in garages and vestibules. The Chicago Police Department issued a community alert warning about the perpetrator’s modus operandi and description.
Both incidents took place on December 28 in broad daylight, with the assailant using physical force to steal valuables from his victims after following them into enclosed areas.
The first robbery occurred around 1:14 p.m. on West Addison Street, where the offender forcibly took a woman’s cell phone, Ventra card, and cash in a garage area. The second incident occurred at about 2:49 p.m. on North Newland Avenue, where the perpetrator stole a woman’s shopping bags and purse containing her phone and credit cards.
The suspect is described as a male between 30 and 40 years old, standing 5’8″ to 6’2″ tall, and weighing between 200 and 240 pounds. During the robberies, he was seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, dark shoes, and a black balaclava-style mask.
Authorities revealed that the offender used a dark blue 2000 Ford Taurus as a getaway vehicle during the attacks, although the vehicle has since been recovered.
