Indian left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh made history by becoming the first male bowler from India to reach 100 T20I wickets. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) seamer accomplished this milestone by dismissing Oman’s Vinayak Shukla during the Asia Cup 2025 match in Abu Dhabi on Friday, September 19.

The wicket came as Shukla failed to connect with a rising delivery from Arshdeep, resulting in a catch by substitute fielder Rinku Singh on the mid-wicket boundary. Arshdeep achieved this feat in his 64th match, making him the third fastest bowler among full member teams to reach the landmark.

The 26-year-old was given a chance in the playing XI for the first time in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 during the match on Friday, September 19. He filled in for Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested ahead of the Super 4 stage of the tournament starting on Saturday, September 20.

In the same match, India defended a total of 188 runs in the second innings against Oman. Despite a strong batting effort from Oman’s Aamir Kaleem (64 off 46 balls) and Hammad Mirza (51 off 33 balls), who put on a 91-run partnership for the second wicket, the Indian bowlers managed to secure the victory.

India’s unbeaten run in the tournament continues as they look forward to their upcoming matches in the Super 4 stage. They are set to face Pakistan on Sunday, September 21, followed by matches against Bangladesh on Wednesday, September 24, and Sri Lanka on Friday, September 26.

The Men in Blue have been in fine form and will aim to maintain their winning streak as they progress through the tournament. With Arshdeep Singh’s historic achievement and the team’s solid performances, India looks well-equipped to make a strong statement in the Asia Cup 2025.
