A person has been hospitalized with “critical injuries” and has undergone surgery after being seriously assaulted in North Canterbury on Thursday night.
Authorities were alerted to an incident at a residence on Racecourse Rd in Amberley, Hurunui, around 10:25 pm after reports of a severe assault.
Detective Senior Sergeant Karen Simmon stated on Friday morning, “The victim was transported to hospital with critical injuries and is currently undergoing surgery.”
She added, “Police are speaking with a person in relation to the incident and are not seeking anyone else at this time.”
A scene examination is being conducted at the location, and investigations into the incident’s circumstances continue.
