As the year 2024 comes to a close, people on social media are once again looking to the famous ‘prophet of doom’, Nostradamus, for insights into what the year 2025 may hold. Nostradamus, also known as Michel de Nostredame, was a French astrologer and physician from the 1500s who made predictions about significant historical events such as the rise of Adolf Hitler, the September 11 attacks, and even the COVID-19 pandemic. His book Les Prophetis (The Prophecies), published in 1555, contains 942 poetic quatrains that are still widely studied and interpreted for their possible relevance to global events.

While many of Nostradamus’ prophecies may not always come true, they continue to captivate readers with their mysterious and intriguing nature.

Potential End of Russia-Ukraine Conflict

One of Nostradamus’ predictions for 2024 suggested a prolonged continent-wide war, but his writings for 2025 hint at the possibility of a resolution to at least one long-standing conflict. He mentioned the exhaustion of the armies involved in the war, possibly alluding to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict that began in 2022, and speculated that both sides may reach a point where they decide to end hostilities.

“Through long war all the army exhausted, so that they do not find money for the soldiers; instead of gold or silver, they will come to coin leather, Gallic brass, and the crescent sign of the Moon,” Nostradamus wrote.

The references to “Gallic brass” and the “sign of the moon” have sparked speculation among social media users about potential involvement of France and Turkey in the conflict.

Predictions of Plague and War

Nostradamus foresaw a challenging year ahead for England in 2025, with predictions of “cruel wars” and the outbreak of an “ancient plague” that would be more devastating than any external enemies. Given the accuracy of his COVID-19 pandemic prediction, experts are taking this prophecy seriously.

Asteroid Threat

Another ominous prediction for 2025 from Nostradamus is the possibility of a massive asteroid colliding with Earth or passing dangerously close to our planet. While such events do occur regularly, with hundreds of asteroids passing by Earth each year, the potential impact of a large asteroid remains a concern.

Natural Disasters in Brazil

Nostradamus also predicted natural disasters in Brazil, describing the country as the “Garden of the World” facing flooding and volcanic activity possibly linked to climate change.

“Garden of the world near the new city, In the path of the hollow mountains: It will be seized and plunged into the Tub, Forced to drink waters poisoned by sulfur,” the prophecy reads.

Reports suggest that Nostradamus’ grim outlook on the future may have been influenced by his deep engagement with the Old Testament and the personal tragedies he endured, including the loss of his wife and children to illness, likely the plague. Unable to prevent their deaths, Nostradamus found solace in foretelling potential future catastrophes that could impact humanity.
