During a press briefing, St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer described the storm as potentially one of the worst the city has ever faced, noting that more than 5,000 homes were impacted. “The devastation is truly tremendous,” Spencer remarked, emphasizing the urgent need for rescue efforts. “This is a hard night for many, many families. Our city is grieving tonight. The loss of life and the destruction is truly, truly horrendous. Our priority tonight and for the next 24 hours is life — protecting it, finding those who may be trapped, and getting them to safety.”
Interestingly, a photographer capturing wedding memories in St. Louis inadvertently filmed one of the tornadoes, underscoring the surreal juxtaposition of joy and tragedy.
