Over the weekend, businesses on Chicago’s Northwest Side were targeted by a burglary crew in a series of break-ins that left storefronts damaged and cash registers stolen. The criminals struck at least eight businesses during the early morning hours on Sunday and Monday, gaining entry by breaking front glass doors or side windows.

According to Chicago police, the crew consisted of two or three White or Hispanic men wearing dark clothing, masks, and gloves. They traveled in two sedans, one silver and the other dark, as they carried out their criminal activities. The targeted businesses included auto parts stores, liquor and convenience stores, and a nail salon.

The spree began on Sunday at 4:21 a.m. in the 5300 block of North Cumberland, followed by break-ins at 4:34 a.m. in the 7000 block of West Higgins, 4:44 a.m. in the 4700 block of North Milwaukee, and 4:50 a.m. in the 3400 block of West Irving Park Road. The burglars struck again on Monday, hitting two businesses in the 5300 block of North Milwaukee at 3:05 a.m. and 3:07 a.m. They then moved on to a store in the 4300 block of North Elston at 4:04 a.m. and the 2600 block of North Elston at 4:27 a.m.

These brazen acts of burglary have left business owners in the area feeling vulnerable and concerned about their safety and security. Chicago police are actively investigating the incidents and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
