Attachment’s Easily Collection: A Breath of Fresh Air in Menswear
Like many menswear designers, Koki Enomoto of Attachment was inspired by the idea of lightness and levity as he prepared for this season. How could he infuse Attachment’s typically restrained minimalism with a touch of summer sprezzatura?
Enomoto found his answer by looking back at Giorgio Armani’s soft tailoring from the 1980s and drawing inspiration from Richard Gere’s wardrobe in American Gigolo, a timeless reference in menswear. “It was a relaxed yet formal look…the casual style of that era was undeniably cool,” Enomoto shared during a showroom appointment in Tokyo. Thus, the collection was aptly named Easily.
The resulting pieces showcased a range of menswear essentials that felt perfectly in tune with the current moment. Enomoto reimagined 1980s suit jackets by eliminating power shoulders and linings, resulting in softer yet equally commanding silhouettes. “In a way, we are reinventing or modernizing it to suit the present times, especially by incorporating soft fabrics,” he explained.
The focus on tactile silk-cashmere sweaters was another highlight, both visually striking on the runway and luxurious to the touch in the showroom. The color palette further enhanced the collection’s appeal, featuring shades like coral, amber, charcoal, sky blue, and brown that were as pleasing to the eye as they were to wear.
Enomoto, who took the helm at Attachment following the passing of designer Kazuyuki Kumagai in 2022, has a knack for delivering collections that feel contemporary yet effortless. From the open-toed leather sandals to the casually draped neckties and the pairing of silky pajama shirts with sleek black boxer shorts, each detail exuded a sensuality that aligned perfectly with the current menswear landscape.
With pieces that seamlessly integrate into a modern man’s wardrobe, the Easily collection truly lived up to its name. With impeccable casting, styling, and quality garments, Enomoto’s latest offering is undoubtedly one of his best yet. Easily.
