Man with Electronic Ankle Monitor Assaults Good Samaritan in River North
A man trying to break up a fight in River North was knocked unconscious by an attacker who was wearing an electronic ankle monitor, according to Chicago police and witnesses.
The assault happened around 2:05 a.m. on July 11 in the 100 block of West Kinzie Street. Witnesses told officers that the victim was trying to break up a fight between some women when another man — who appeared to have no connection to the original conflict — walked up and punched him in the back of the head.
The victim fell to the street and was knocked out, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
The attacker fled. Police described him as a Hispanic man, 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11, weighing between 150 and 170 pounds. He was wearing a black tank top with a white palm tree design, black shorts, white gym shoes, and a black baseball cap. He was also carrying a black hooded sweatshirt and had an electronic ankle monitor strapped to his left ankle.
