Aurora Police Still Searching for Shooters in Colfax Avenue Nightclub Incident

Aurora police are continuing their investigation into a shooting that took place outside a Colfax Avenue nightclub in August 2024, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to another.

Authorities were alerted to the shooting at the club located in the 11200 block of East Colfax in the early hours of Aug. 11, as detailed in a social media post by the police department.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a man, later identified as 25-year-old Rafael Rivera-Velez, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and tragically passed away at the scene. Another individual was also shot but survived the attack.

Witnesses informed law enforcement that the gunfire originated from a blue sedan that entered the parking lot, where a group of people was gathered.

“Investigators suspect that the suspect or suspects targeted the crowd at random,” stated the police department. “Despite exhaustive efforts, no suspect description or further details about the vehicle have been obtained.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to reach out to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or submit a tip online to potentially qualify for a reward of up to $2,000.
