According to KXAN’s report, the group allegedly stole another Kia Soul between March 9 and March 11. Eyewitness accounts indicated that a black Kia Soul was observed near the scene just prior to the shooting.
Further investigation revealed:
Surveillance footage captured the black Kia Soul exiting the complex shortly after the incident, heading north on Douglas Street towards Oltorf Street. This vehicle was reported stolen on March 10 from an apartment complex in Kyle. The owner provided footage showing a masked individual in the silver Kia Soul at the complex, who was seen attempting to break into two other vehicles before successfully stealing the black Kia Soul.
Additionally, a detective located a silver Kia Soul, also reported stolen on March 9, that had been abandoned, blocking traffic in southeast Travis County, further linking the suspects to the crimes.
Investigators utilized search warrants to analyze cellphone tower data from the vicinity of both stolen vehicles. A particular cellphone number emerged, consistent with sightings of the suspects and the stolen cars, ultimately identifying Camarillo as a key suspect, according to court records.
Camarillo was taken into custody on April 30 and charged with capital murder involving a terror threat or other felony. His bond is set at $250,000.
The current status of Camarillo’s citizenship remains uncertain.
