The 2026 Grammys was a night filled with surprises and snubs, with no clear sweeps in sight. Kendrick Lamar emerged as a strong winner, taking home five out of nine categories, including a key win for Record of the Year. It was a night where nearly every major star with multiple nominations had to settle for just one or two awards, making it feel like an inclusive “a trophy for everyone” kind of year.

However, not everyone walked away with a trophy. Sabrina Carpenter, who had six nominations, left empty-handed, while Lola Young surprised everyone by beating out top superstars in a key pop category. Her win added an unexpected twist to the nearly four-hour pre-telecast “premiere ceremony.”

One of the biggest surprises of the night was Bad Bunny’s historic win in the Album of the Year category. Despite facing tough competition, including Kendrick Lamar and Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny made history as the first Spanish-language recording to win in one of the top four categories. His well-reviewed album and the support from Latin Grammy voters likely played a role in his victory.

On the other hand, Sabrina Carpenter’s snub was disappointing, considering the success of her album “Man’s Best Friend.” While she didn’t win any awards, Carpenter’s performance at the show’s opening received praise for its high-concept production.

Another unexpected win came from Lola Young, who took home the Best Pop Solo Performance award, beating out more well-known artists like Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga. Young’s victory added an element of surprise to the evening and showcased her potential as an artist to watch in the future.

Justin Bieber, despite receiving four nominations, continued his streak of underwhelming wins at the Grammys, with only two victories out of 27 nominations. While his comeback narrative was strong, he faced tough competition from artists like Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny.

Billie Eilish proved to be a force to be reckoned with, winning for her song “Wildflower,” despite it being a late entry from her previous album. Eilish’s broad appeal and hit song helped her secure a win, showcasing her status as a favorite among voters.

K-pop artists, on the other hand, faced disappointment at the Grammys, with “Golden” falling short in major categories. While the genre made history with its first Grammy win, artists like Rosé and Bruno Mars were left empty-handed despite their popular collaborations.

Overall, the 2026 Grammys was a night filled with unexpected wins and disappointments, highlighting the diverse talent and stiff competition in the music industry.
