Beeper, the multi-service messaging app, is making a comeback with a more secure version that eliminates the need for its own cloud services. Under the ownership of Automattic, the app now offers premium features like reminders, message scheduling, incognito mode, AI voice note transcriptions, and more. With a team of 30 people and integration with competitor Texts.com, Beeper supports a wide range of messaging platforms including WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, Signal, Slack, and more.

The goal of Beeper is to simplify the overwhelming task of managing multiple messaging apps while ensuring privacy and security. The app now offers the option to connect directly to messaging networks without using Beeper Cloud, preserving end-to-end encryption. While some messaging companies may not appreciate this bypass, Beeper aims to support their business models by displaying ads and following EU regulations that require interoperability.

In addition to the free tier, Beeper now offers a premium plan called Beeper Plus for $9.99 per month, allowing users to connect with 10 messaging services and access advanced features like message scheduling and AI voice note transcriptions. For businesses and social media managers, there’s Beeper Plus Plus for $49.99 per month, offering unlimited accounts and enhanced capabilities.

After integrating with Texts.com, Beeper is now 99% integrated, with only a few features left to port over. The app has millions of registered users and aims to eventually integrate with Automattic’s personal CRM Clay. Beeper is also working on making user data available to other companies in a privacy-conscious manner, with plans for an MCP (model context protocol) that will allow users to interact with chat apps using AI models.

Overall, Beeper is focused on providing a seamless messaging experience while prioritizing user privacy and data protection. With new premium offerings and a commitment to transparency, Beeper is poised to become a powerful tool for managing multiple chat apps efficiently and securely.
