Are you looking to maximize your savings and earn a competitive rate on your money? Consider investing in a certificate of deposit (CD) to help your balance grow. However, with rates varying widely across financial institutions, it’s crucial to ensure you’re getting the best deal possible when shopping for a CD.

Historically, longer-term CDs used to offer higher interest rates than shorter-term CDs as banks incentivized savers to keep their money on deposit for longer periods. However, in today’s economic climate, the opposite is true.

As of July 20, 2025, Gainbridge® is offering the highest CD rate at 5.5% APY on its 5-year CD, with a minimum opening deposit requirement of $1000. The interest you can earn from a CD depends on the annual percentage rate (APY), which takes into account the base interest rate and how often interest compounds.

For example, if you invest $1,000 in a one-year CD with 1.81% APY and interest compounds monthly, your balance would grow to $1,018.25 at the end of the year. Opting for a one-year CD with 4% APY instead would see your balance grow to $1,040.74, including $40.74 in interest.

The more you deposit in a CD, the more you stand to earn. For instance, if you deposit $10,000 in a one-year CD with 4% APY, your total balance would be $10,407.42 at maturity, earning you $407.42 in interest.

When selecting a CD, the interest rate is crucial, but it’s not the only factor to consider. There are various types of CDs available, each offering different benefits. Beyond traditional CDs, you may want to explore options like bump-up CDs, no-penalty CDs, jumbo CDs, and brokered CDs for added flexibility or higher rates.

By considering these different types of CDs and comparing rates across financial institutions, you can make an informed decision to maximize your savings and earn the best possible return on your investment. If you’re interested in learning more about CD rates and how they can benefit your financial goals, reach out to Gainbridge® or your preferred financial institution for personalized guidance and assistance.
