Better Artificial Intelligence Stock: BigBear.ai vs. Nvidia

Artificial intelligence (AI) companies have been gaining significant attention from investors in recent years, with BigBear.ai and Nvidia emerging as top contenders in the market. Nvidia, a leading AI semiconductor company, has seen substantial growth in both revenue and profitability, making it a favorite among investors. The company’s AI processors are in high demand, with an estimated 70% to 95% of data centers using Nvidia’s technology.

In fiscal 2025, Nvidia experienced a remarkable 114% increase in total sales, reaching $130.5 billion, while earnings surged by 147% to $2.94 per share. This growth was primarily driven by the company’s data center segment, which saw a revenue surge of 142% to $115 billion. As a result, Nvidia’s stock has climbed 57% over the past year, with a price-to-earnings multiple of about 56, lower than the industry average.

Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, believes that AI will continue to drive significant data center spending in the coming years, presenting a lucrative opportunity for the company. Despite the company’s impressive performance, there are always risks associated with investing in high-growth AI stocks.

On the other hand, BigBear.ai, an AI data analytics company, has also seen a surge in its stock price, jumping 323% over the past year. However, the company’s lackluster revenue growth, with sales increasing just 5% in Q1 to $34.8 million, raises concerns among investors. Moreover, 52% of BigBear.ai’s revenue comes from only four customers, posing a risk if any of them were to leave.

BigBear.ai reported a loss of $1.10 per share last year and continued to report a loss of $0.25 per share in Q1. With a price-to-sales ratio of 11, significantly higher than the industry average, investors may be paying a premium for the stock. In comparison to Nvidia, BigBear.ai appears to be overvalued, with unimpressive revenue growth and lack of profitability.

In conclusion, while both companies operate in the AI space, Nvidia stands out as a more favorable investment option due to its profitability, consistent revenue growth, and market dominance. Investors looking for a long-term investment in the AI sector may find Nvidia to be a more reliable choice compared to BigBear.ai. As with any investment, it’s essential to conduct thorough research and consider the risks before making a decision.
