This past holiday weekend, Joe Biden found himself engaged in an unexpected showdown with a beach chair at Malibu Beach—and, unfortunately for him, the chair emerged victorious.

It seems that the former president is noticeably less spry than he was just a few years ago.

Not long ago, Biden was spotted at his beach house in Delaware, struggling to navigate the sandy terrain while Dr. Jill offered steadying support. It was a moment that raised eyebrows and questions about his physical well-being.

During his presidency, Biden was known for taking an unusually high number of vacation days, even as his administration faced significant challenges at home and abroad.

Fast forward to this holiday weekend, and the former president found himself once again grappling with the mechanics of relaxation. Video footage captured his amusing struggle with a beach chair in Malibu.

One might have hoped that a member of the Biden family would have stepped in to assist the octogenarian in his battle against furniture.

According to a report from the New York Post:

Former President Joe Biden was photographed struggling to set up a beach chair before enjoying some sun with family near his son Hunter’s home in Malibu, California, as he kicked off his first Independence Day weekend since leaving office.

The ex-commander-in-chief—who accumulated more vacation days than any recent U.S. president—relaxed under a red umbrella with former First Lady Jill Biden, while granddaughter Finnegan and grandson Beau Biden Jr. played in the sand.

Images show the 82-year-old former Delaware senator and vice president shaking sand off his towel while sporting his iconic aviator sunglasses and a presidential baseball cap before packing up to leave.

So, what’s the takeaway from this lighthearted yet telling scenario? It appears that the challenges of retirement can be just as formidable as those of public office, especially when it comes to the logistics of leisure.
