Big Brother 27 contestant Ava Pearl made headlines recently with a bold move during the White Locust challenge, opting to let Vince Panaro go first—a choice she stands by without remorse.
“I absolutely stand by my choice,” Ava, 24, stated exclusively to Us Weekly on September 26. “I don’t believe for a second that Vinny was in any real danger of going home that night.”
In an intriguing twist devised by the Mastermind, contestants engaged in a safety chain competition featuring a race against time to complete a puzzle inside a hamster wheel. As more players succeeded, the remaining participants faced increasingly tighter time constraints.
Ava, having secured safety herself, was granted the privilege of choosing who would take the wheel first. Despite her amicable rapport with Rachel Reilly, who expressed a willingness to tackle the challenge, Ava opted for Vince instead, hoping to avoid ruffling any feathers.
“Rachel was keen on not having Lauren [Domingue] tackle that wheel until later, and I feared Lauren might get sent home,” Ava elaborated on her strategy. “By choosing Vinny, I was paving the way for him to potentially select Lauren while minimizing any fallout on my part, especially since Rachel would have been upset had I picked Lauren.”
After an impressive performance, Vince completed his challenge and subsequently chose Lauren next, thanks to their secret alliance. This selection stirred discontent among Rachel, 40, and Morgan Pope, who followed suit. Morgan chose Rachel, leading to Rachel’s unfortunate elimination when she couldn’t finish her puzzle.
Rachel’s exit transformed the dynamics of the game, enabling Morgan and Vince to ascend in challenges. Morgan not only claimed the Head of Household title but also won the Power of Veto, keeping Ava’s nomination intact, which ultimately sealed Ava’s fate when Vince cast the only vote for her eviction.
Prior to her ousting, Ava notably attempted to sow discord during a house meeting by accusing Vince of planning to bring Ashley to the finale over Morgan. However, this gambit was futile, as Morgan opted to maintain her loyalty to Vince.
“I believe the game didn’t work out due to the pre-established alliances,” Ava mused. “If I was going down, I wanted to do it with flair, leaving them with food for thought as I exited.”
Despite her tumultuous relationship with Vince, Ava expressed that she feels no profound sense of betrayal within the game. “Honestly, I don’t feel overly betrayed by anyone,” she revealed to Us. “Sure, I was lied to, but who wasn’t? Everyone was spinning a web of lies in that house.”
Big Brother captivates audiences on CBS every Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday at 8 p.m. ET, with fans able to catch live feeds from the house anytime through Paramount+.
