Bill Maher is setting his sights on a new venture as he believes he is the perfect man to revive the failing show, The Golden Bachelor. The 70-year-old comedian has a unique take on the show’s format and is eager to shake things up by bringing on much younger contestants.
During a recent episode of his Club Random podcast, Maher pitched his idea to John Stamos, who had a friend that directs ABC’s The Bachelor. Maher expressed his desire to be the Golden Bachelor and have only young women compete for his attention on the show. He boldly stated that some of these women would “leave crying” as he plans to be brutally honest with them.
Stamos suggested the title “Golden Bachelor Daddy Issues,” but Maher preferred “Daddy problem-solving” instead. He believes that his idea would attract a lot of attention and generate high ratings, despite Stamos’ skepticism about the female demographic being interested in watching.
Maher emphasized that his show would be different from the traditional dating shows, as he would keep things “chaste” and not involve any intimate relationships with the contestants. He believes that this approach would keep the audience engaged and prevent any controversy.
The original Golden Bachelor show had its share of drama, with one contestant filing for divorce shortly after finding love and another contestant expressing preferences for a specific age range, which affected the ratings. Maher’s new take on the show promises to bring a fresh perspective and inject some much-needed excitement into the format.
As Maher continues to develop his idea for The Golden Bachelor, it remains to be seen whether his unconventional approach will resonate with audiences and breathe new life into the dating show genre. Stay tuned for more updates on Maher’s potential venture into reality television.
