“Operation Tidal Wave” in Florida leads to about 800 arrests in less than a week from 4/21/25 to 4/26/25

Operation Tidal Wave: A Swift Response to Illegal Immigration in Florida

In a move that echoes the promises made during his presidency, Donald Trump is intensifying efforts to address illegal immigration. With a backdrop of legal challenges from activist judges, the administration’s focus remains steadfast on deportation. This week, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency has embarked on a significant operation aimed at bolstering public safety.

According to Bill Melugin from Fox News, “Operation Tidal Wave” represents a collaborative initiative between ICE and local law enforcement in Florida, resulting in approximately 800 arrests within just the first four days. Many of those apprehended are reported to have serious criminal backgrounds, including gang affiliations and violent crimes.

Among the individuals arrested was Jose Sanchez Reyes, a Colombian national with a homicide conviction in his country. Reyes had previously entered the United States illegally and was categorized as a “gotaway.”

Also apprehended was Rafael Juarez Cabrera, an MS-13 gang member from Guatemala who had illegally crossed the U.S. border three times and now faces felony re-entry charges.

The operation further highlights the case of Savva Klishchevskii, a Russian fugitive wanted by Interpol for vehicular manslaughter, as well as Aron Isaak Morazan-Izaguirre from Honduras, alleged to be connected to the 18th Street gang and suspected of engaging in terrorist activities, having entered the U.S. illegally on two occasions.

Florida stands as a model of federal and local law enforcement cooperation in the pursuit of immigration enforcement. The state has taken a proactive stance in arresting individuals who have outstanding orders for deportation, showcasing a unified front against illegal immigration.

In contrast, several states have resisted cooperation with ICE, with some officials actively obstructing deportation efforts. A notable example includes Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, who has issued guidelines aimed at assisting illegal immigrants in evading ICE enforcement actions.

Meanwhile, the Department of Justice is ramping up its crackdown on those aiding undocumented individuals, resulting in the arrest of two judges—one from New Mexico and another from Wisconsin—who allegedly facilitated illegal immigration.

It appears that the rule of law may finally be making a comeback, at least in Florida, where the state’s commitment to immigration enforcement is being showcased on a national stage. Whether this trend will continue or face resistance from other states remains to be seen.
