A shocking incident unfolded in South Brunswick when a bitter boyfriend allegedly set fire to his girlfriend’s parents’ home, causing chaos and destruction. Leonard Jones, 50, reportedly started the blaze after a heated argument with his girlfriend inside the residence on Old Beekman Road in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The South Brunswick Police Department was called to the scene after Jones refused to leave the house, but before they could arrive, a second 911 call reported that the home was on fire. As flames engulfed the single-family home, four residents, including Jones, managed to escape safely.
Neighbor Elise Campanella described the scene as “insane” as one of the residents knocked on her door to alert her of the raging fire. Firefighters arrived to extinguish the flames, but not before the fire caused significant damage to the property.
Jones was apprehended outside the burning home and was charged with aggravated arson and domestic violence. The incident left the neighborhood in shock and disbelief at the destructive actions of the accused individual.
The aftermath of the fire serves as a reminder of the dangers of domestic disputes escalating to such extreme levels. The community is left to pick up the pieces and support the affected families as they try to rebuild their lives following this traumatic event.
