“Castel Volturno, encompassing 72 square kilometers, is an area filled with dilapidated structures and litter. In this region of Caserta, a significant portion of the population is of Nigerian descent. The children, born to these immigrants, have limited opportunities. They communicate in Neapolitan and express themselves through the distinctive gestures typical of Southern Italy.
The story of Black Basket Castel Volturno unfolds on a modest basketball court along the historic Domitian Way, brought to life by Massimo Antonelli, a legendary basketball player. He established Tam Tam Basket—a dynamic team and an innovative sports and social initiative—in a landscape that is both challenging and breathtaking.
In a region where optimism appears absent, passion thrives. A small spark, when nurtured, can blossom into a transformative generation, vibrant and magnetic. Aspirations intertwine with daily life, and frustration morphs into renewable energy that fuels the worn-out courts near the beaches of Villaggio Coppola, under battered hoops and amidst the excitement and efforts of youth, their skin bronzed by the sun.

Experiencing Castel Volturno is essential to understand its narrative.
One cannot pursue it without recognizing its essence.
And it’s impossible to depart until you have grasped the art of remaining.
