The mainstream media has been aggressively promoting the Republican narrative that black voters are gravitating towards the Republican Party. This narrative took root during the 2024 campaign and continues to be perpetuated by corporate media outlets. However, it is essential to note that Trump entered office with a net approval rating of (-27) among black voters, and this number has dramatically plummeted in just two months.
Trump initially performed better than expected among nonwhite voters in the previous November, but those demographics—particularly Black voters—are now beginning to distance themselves.
Since our first survey conducted post-inauguration in January, Trump’s net approval rating has plummeted by 27 percentage points among Black voters, who now disapprove of his performance by a staggering 72% to 24% margin.
Similar declines are evident among millennials, who have shifted from a 22-point approval advantage in January to a situation where they now rate him equally positively and negatively.
This trend has contributed to Trump’s lowest approval ratings recorded in the nine weeks of surveys since his inauguration, placing him in a comparable position to where he stood exactly eight years ago at the beginning of his first term.
Currently, Trump’s net approval ratings are as follows: (-17) with Generation Z, (-2) with Generation X, (-4) with Baby Boomers, and a net (0) rating with millennials—his strongest showing among any age group.
