Netflix has recently announced the upcoming action thriller film “Tygo,” which will feature Lalisa “Lisa” Manobal from Blackpink, along with Korean action star Don Lee and “Squid Game” actor Lee Jin-uk. Production is being handled by Big Punch Pictures, AGBO, TGIM, Nova Film Inc, and B&C Group.
Based on an original graphic novel by Anthony and Joe Russo with Ande Parks, “Tygo” follows the story of Tygo (Don Lee), a former child soldier turned mercenary seeking revenge in Korea’s criminal underworld. The screenplay will be written by Cha Woo-jin and directed by Lee Sang-yong, known for his work on “The Roundup” and “The Roundup: No Way Out.”
Lisa expressed her excitement about being part of the project, stating that starring in an action movie has always been a dream of hers. Don Lee, known for his roles in the “The Roundup” franchise and Marvel’s “Eternals,” shared his enthusiasm for the project, which he has been developing with AGBO for years. Lee Jin-uk also expressed his honor at joining the “Extraction” universe alongside such talented co-stars.
Producer Angela Russo-Otstot highlighted the collaboration with Korean talent in expanding the “Extraction” universe, emphasizing the dynamic choreography and world-class craft of Korean cinema. The success of the franchise on Netflix, with millions of views for both films, demonstrates the global appeal of the action-packed series.
As the “Extraction” franchise continues to captivate audiences worldwide, the addition of Korean talent like Lisa, Don Lee, and Lee Jin-uk promises to bring a fresh perspective to the action genre. Fans can look forward to the explosive energy and thrilling performances in “Tygo,” which is set to make a splash on the streaming platform.
