Bridget Moynahan is making a return to the small screen in the upcoming CBS series “Boston Blue.” The actress, known for her role in “Blue Bloods,” will reprise her character Erin Reagan in the premiere episode of the spinoff. Not only will she be acting in the show, but she has also signed on to direct an episode in Season 1.

The network announced Moynahan’s special guest appearance in the premiere, which will follow Donnie Wahlberg’s character Danny Reagan as he transitions to becoming a detective in the Boston police department. Moynahan’s involvement in the show adds an exciting element for fans of the original series.

Joining Wahlberg and Moynahan in “Boston Blue” are Sonequa Martin-Green, Maggie Lawson, Marcus Scribner, Gloria Reuben, and Ernie Hudson. The show promises to bring the same drama and intrigue as its predecessor, with Wahlberg reprising his role as Danny Reagan in a new setting.

The logline for the series reads, “In ‘Boston Blue,’ a universe expansion of the long-running top drama ‘Blue Bloods,’ Wahlberg will reprise his role as NYPD Officer Danny Reagan as he takes a position with Boston PD. Once in Boston, he is paired with Detective Lena Silver, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family.”

CBS Studios, along with Jerry Buckheimer TV, is behind the production of “Boston Blue.” Showrunners and executive producers Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis, as well as Jerry Bruckheimer, KristieAnne Reed, and Wahlberg, are bringing this new series to life. Paramount Global Content Distribution will handle distribution.

Moynahan’s impressive career spans from her early days on “Sex and the City” to her film roles in “Coyote Ugly,” “The Sum of All Fears,” “I, Robot,” and the “John Wick” franchise. She gained recognition for her role on “Blue Bloods” throughout its successful run from 2010 to 2024.
