Social Network Bluesky Launches Trending Topics Feature in Beta
On Christmas day, social network Bluesky announced the launch of its trending topics feature in beta. This new feature is now available on both the desktop and mobile apps of the platform.
For desktop users, trending topics can be found on the right sidebar, while mobile app users can simply tap on the search button to access them.
Bluesky specified that the trending topics feature will initially only be available in English. Users have the option to disable this feature by navigating to Settings > Content and Media and unchecking the “Enable trending topics” option.
Furthermore, Bluesky ensures that any words or phrases muted by the user will also be excluded from appearing in the trending topics section.
With a user base of over 25 million, Bluesky notes that this is just the initial version of the trending topics feature and promises ongoing improvements in the future.
Interestingly, while Bluesky has just introduced this feature, third-party Bluesky clients like Greysky had already implemented it last year. On the other hand, Bluesky’s competitor Threads had rolled out trending topics to all U.S. users in March and began testing the feature in Japan in October. However, Bluesky’s beta test of trending topics is available worldwide.
